Dr. Knopf obtained his M.D. from the University of California, San Francisco School of Medicine. He completed residencies in internal medicine and radiation oncology at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in New York, and fellowships in medicine and health services and economics at the National Institutes of Health in Bethesda, Maryland.
