Leading electrophysiology studies to advance the diagnosis and treatment of cardiac arrhythmias

Research Overview

  • A member of the Cardiac Services and Electrophysiology Departments at CPMC, Dr. Hongo studies arrhythmias and anti-arrhythmic drug therapy, electrophysiology, the use of implant cardiac defibrillators, pacemakers and radiofrequency ablation in cardiac syndromes, and Wolff-Parkinson-White syndrome.
  • He is Assistant Director of the Cardiac Electrophysiology lab within the Kanbar Cardiac Center, whose specialists are at the forefront of cardiac electrophysiology treatments, heart studies,  and clinical research.
  • Dr. Hongo lectures internationally on screening for arrhythmias, the current scope of therapy for cardiac electrophysiology, sudden cardiac death, and advances in the treatment of atrial fibrillation.

Training
 

Dr. Hongo received his M.D. from Loma Linda University in Loma Linda, California. He completed a cardiology fellowship at California Pacific Medical Center, and a cardiac electrophysiology fellowship at the University of California, San Francisco.
